Saturday 24th October 2009 ~ Between 10.00 am - 11.00 am
Join us for the
first in a series of
drop-in gardening clinics we are holding this autumn...
On Saturday 24th October Alex Mitchell, fellow urban gardener and author of The Girl’s Guide to Growing Your Own, will be leading our first ‘drop-in gardening clinic’ at Petersham Nurseries, discussing How to Grow Veg. Pop along between 10am and 11am and put your questions to an expert for free.
The ‘grow-your-own’ food revolution is upon us...
There is something very rewarding about growing your own fruit and vegetables. Being able to pop out into the garden to pluck ripe strawberries or being able to make the perfect cup of herbal tea from fresh own grown herbs. Yet whilst keen gardeners steam ahead with their planting, many of us can only relish the idea of eating our own home grown salads - either we don’t know where to start, or can never find the enough time.
The Girl’s Guide to Growing Your Own by Alex Mitchell, is “the perfect guide for modern, urban-living, eco-conscious girl who wants to enjoy the pleasure of growing her own produce without getting her hands too dirty!”. Within this colourful and fun book, Alex provides practical and seasonal advice for budding, novice gardeners on growing your own.
In line with the October publication of The Girl’s Guide to Growing Your Own, for one morning only Alex will lead a discussion on How to Grow Veg - offering a Q&A session as well as signing books.
So if you have ever wondered...when to sow rocket, the best time to start sowing chard, or even how often to water... join us for an information packed morning. With no question too big or too small – we hope you will leave with a renewed enthusiasm for growing your own plus having the opportunity to pick up a few insider ‘cheat’ tips along the way.
Please cycle, walk or use public transport whenever and wherever possible.
